"Last week, I learned that a powerful voice for faculty is also a powerful voice for students.
On Monday, I attended a dialogue with Governor Inslee organized by UW Faculty Forward — faculty fighting for the right to be represented by a union at UW. This meeting invited a diverse platform of UW students, faculty, and staff to advocate to the governor about the future of our institution. The main focus of the meeting was to discuss the upcoming Board of Regent appointments. The Board of Regents serve as the primary fiscal stewards of the University and, in practice, cue the president on the direction of the institution. For me, a student activist that spends a lot of time demanding to be heard by administrators, it was an opportunity to understand the interests of the entire campus community can be represented when faculty issues are heard."
