Faculty and Students United

On Inauguration Day, UW Faculty Forward joined students and staff for rallies and teach-ins at UW Tacoma and UW Seattle.

At UW Tacoma, the community came together on January 20 for a Rally for Unity at 12:20pm, with speeches and music followed by a march to faculty- and student-led teach-ins.

At UW Seattle, the community held a rally in Red Square at 10am before taking over Odegaard Library for a series of teach-ins from 11am-3pm.

On January 30, UWFF member Libi Sundermann, with other UWT faculty, led a protest/rally titled No Ban/No Wall on the UWT campus.

This event brought UWFF members on the Tacoma campus, other faculty, staff, and students together in opposition to Donald Drumpf’s immigrant ban and proposals to build a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border. Although no official headcount was taken, the Tacoma News Tribune reported that between 100 and 200 people attended the protest/rally.
